The League Cup

with 2 comments

Wow, two games, one team, between us and a Wembley cup final.

We can all dream of the chance of the possibility of playing in Europe next season.

But wait, who are we kidding. We might as well be 10 games away. The “World Club Champions” stand in our way. Do we stand any hope at all? No of course we don’t. You can point to Coventry knocking them out last season but that was at a much earlier stage when they put out their reserve team. You know that at this stage, they will be expecting more silverware in the trophy cabinet and will be playing the best team they have.
I’m sure PJ will be telling the guys to defend and mark like their lives depended on it and to try and enjoy the atmosphere but are we capable of shocking everyone? I suppose stranger things have happened.
Betfair at this very moment show odds of the RAMS winning the first leg of 5-1 and MU 1.74-1 and for actually winning the cup 29-1 and 1.74-1 respectively. PJ will know in his heart of hearts that this is the end of the road in the League Cup and perhaps this is a good thing. If PJ seems less stressed then maybe the players will feel less pressure and play more freely.

As I’m on the subject of cups, I think we should really be looking at the FA Cup now and making sure we dispense with Forest Green Rovers. Please guys don’t let this be a banana skin to add to past cup exits – I’m sure it won’t be.

  2. Martin you need to sort out the awful display after this weekend. Too many tired wasters.
