Boring
God, it’s really boring waiting for the new football season.
Is it me or was the last England match hardly mentioned on TV?
I hadn’t even noticed that it was on TV at all. Not until I heard Ian Wright discussing it on TalkSport did I even realize that England had played.
Honestly though, I do have to say I am completely on Ian Wright’s side when he talked about how some England fans are never happy. SIX straight wins for England and some people still bang on about how we’re not good enough.

Unless we’re in a group with Spain or Germany, some people seem to think that we’re not proving anything.
There are no easy internationals these days and yes perhaps Spain are better than us but, this is no reason to constantly knock players who have been winning. It’s time to stop moaning and start congratulating. The way England play in any particular game is virtually irrelevant if we win.
Summer
Well thats it. A lame last game performance kind of prepared us for the boring summer while we all wait for August.
How much better will we do next season? It depends on how effective Nigel’s new signings will be.
Who will go? Personally I don’t see things improving to any great extent. The indication is that he wants some of his Burton boys – is that a sensible choice?
I don’t think we should expect anything more than a mid table finish next season.
I believe Nigel can fix things but it will take time. I think we have to be more patient than we have been in the past. Role on August and lets hope any new boys gel quickly and we don’t have a spluttering start to the season. A good start is always a massive help.
What’s the betting we get Newcastle, Boro and West Brom in the first handful of games?
Ideally we want numpties at the start of the season and at the end but you know that never happens.
At last
Well we finally crossed the finishing line – gasping and spluttering.
When Nigel first arrived, performances were up and it was good to watch – we were starting to win again.
So how did it all revert to the Paul Jewell days in the last handful of matches?
I suspect Nigel will be having a big clear out soon. There are clearly several players who don’t see their future at Pride Park. If you cared enough you would play like it mattered right up to the last game of the season.
End of the season
Always a depressing time for footy fans.
You pray your club does well or survives but on top of that you know that after the last game of the season you will just be waiting for the next season to start.
Cricket – YAWN.
Athletics – well not too bad.
Motor Racing – good.
Tennis – well not too bad – will Murray do it? Course not.
But all we really want is the footy season to get started again.
